Appin Melody (Melody) Melody is a 28 year old registered Hackney pony mare who has been a part of our farm for 19 years. She is extremely spunky and spirited, with a devilish sense of humor. Melody was a Pony Club mount for two years before she found her calling as a mounted Games horse. Melody is a delight to be around, although her intelligence can sometimes get her into trouble. She believes strongly that riders should always expect the unexpected and works hard to ensure her students are well versed in adapting to change! Vertically Challenged (D2) D2 is a prime example of good things coming in small packages. Whether it's going cross-country jumping, playing mounted games, or teaching students how to feed ponies, he's our favorite Shetland with an attitude! Belle Star (Bella) Talk about a Cinderella story. A few months ago, Bella didn't even have a name, and now she's becoming one of our favorite lesson horses. With a trot as smooth as glass and a genuinely sweet disposition, our Bella has definitely gone from pauper to princess! Melody's Minstral (Min) Min is our baby, although he's 19 years old. His mother, Melody, is very proud of her son, as he teaches young riders the benefit of soft hands and a good seat. Min will be MJ's new demonstration games pony, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated "crash test dummy" (pictured above). Fiorprise (Bud) Bud is a handsome 18 year old chestnut Thoroughbred gelding who is skilled at introducing new riders to the joys of horsemanship. This eventing season, Bud is going to take some of our more experienced students cross-country jumping. We can't wait to see him fly! Dab O' Paint (Babie) Babie is just that, a sweet, highly intelligent "child". At 8 years old, she is really starting to shine. She is a very special horse, who doesn't believe she is a horse at all! She loves to be in your "pocket" and will be the first to greet you if you visit her in the field. We delight in Babie's progress and look forward to helping her reach her potential! Nora Charles (Nora) Standing at almost 17 hands, Nora is our resident gentle giant. She is beautiful, friendly, and eager to please. (And we're not just saying that because we love her!) We plan on taking Nora out to local shows and events in the Spring, where we know she will do well. Make sure if you see Nora in the field you tell her what a pretty girl she is. (She never seems to get tired of hearing it! A Lil' Speck of Gold Dust (Dusty) Dusty, a 13.2 hand,18 year old red roan Appaloosa, is one of the best lesson horses on the farm. Owned by the Alloco family, Dusty is not only a pleasure to ride, but a handsome devil as well. We are very fortunate to have him as a teacher in our program, as those of you who have ridden him well know! |
