Lesson Information

Lessons on the flat are normally an hour and jumping lessons are
approximately 45 minutes, but the duration of any lesson is adjustable based
on the needs of the student. Most of our lessons begin in the indoor ring,
but once the student shows independent balance and control, the majority of
our instruction takes place outside.

Since we teach basic horsemanship as a part of our lessons, we feel it is
essential that our students take responsibility for the horses they will be
riding. Students should arrive for their lesson 15-20 minutes early to groom
and tack up their horse, and are expected to stay after their lesson to
ensure their horse is groomed and that their tack has been cleaned and put
away correctly. All activities will be supervised by one of our staff members
to make sure that everything is done safely and efficiently.

For safety, students must wear a light boot that covers the ankle with no
more than a half inch heel. ASTM/SEI approved helmets are mandatory for
all mounted riders. We have a number of certified helmets available for
students who do not have their own. Clothing should be well fitted with shirts
tucked for safety and so the instructor can accurately assess the rider's
position.

Payment

Payment is due by cash or check at the beginning of each lesson. Since
horses eat rain or shine, it is important to understand that we are a
business. If you are unable to make your lesson, please call to cancel no
less than 24 hours in advance. Any student cancelling two or more lessons
on short notice within a one month period will be charged a $25 fee. Special
consideration will be made for cancellations due to unforeseen illness or
emergency.
